The bass of my dreams

(This is reposted from the previous 5 string Ric page; I added mine because it's from the above production years, not new.) As a bassist, this was been my dream instrument. It has been the smoothest and most versatile instrument I think I've played. I can channel my inner Geddy Lee on this monster or just as easily mellow it out to the creamy sound of Kevin Parker. I will say that the string spacing is hard to get used to, but once you do, there's nothing like having that classic Ric tone with the extra oomph of that low 'B' string! I like all kinds of music, and this bass can do it all.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Decent multipurpose amp

This was a good amp for a few years, but I think I may have pushed it too far. It distorts now in the higher frequencies at high volume; more than it should.

Good mic, got it as an artist package

So far, I have only recorded vocals on this mic, but I may use it for guitars eventually. It has been easy to use and mostly clear.

Best free piece of equipment I ever got!

This recording interface probably sucks compared to what I could buy if just saved for a few months, but it works and its all I have, so I love it!

Great in-ears for any level.

I have had these for several years and they have never let me down. I do most of my work from them since I just can't budget yet for actual studio monitors.

For a budget MIDI controller, this thing rocks!

This one is actually what I do my drums on since I don't know how to play and I don't even have a drum set. Great for travel and for home-studio stuff.

Really nifty knock-off of a Gibson; but it's from the 60s so I don't care!

My model, which is somewhat different from the only picture I could find that resembles it, is from 1960-something and you can tell just by playing it. It's got this cool twang like the early Beatles sound and it just smells like the 60s. I had to get it modified to make it playable, but it was money well spent.

A solid guitar; feels great and sounds even better!

I got this from a friend who was upgrading. It came at a time when I needed a solid body guitar and has kept me happy for almost a year now. I don't know that much more about it though... The strings are a bitch to change, but thats been the only issue I take with it.

The coolest, jankiest, '80s'est sounding cheap keyboard I've ever played!

I love this keyboard! I got it for ten bucks some years ago before I really played much, but since I've been writing more, this thing has been a kingpin in my operation. The voices aren't super special, but onboard effects in the digital synthesizer section really bring it to life. Running the signal through nothing more than my effects rack in Logic takes it to yet another level!
