AIWA is a Japanese-rooted audio brand founded in 1951, originally established in Tokyo as Aiko Denki Sangyo Co., a manufacturer of microphones, before adopting the AIWA name in 1959. The company became known throughout the latter half of the twentieth century for affordable, well-engineered consumer audio, releasing notable products such as the TP-707 reel-to-reel recorder, the TPR-101 — often cited as Japan's first boombox — and the TP-S30, an early portable cassette recorder marketed in Japan as the CassetteBoy. AIWA's mini-component stereo systems and personal cassette and CD players were widely distributed worldwide through the 1970s, '80s, and '90s.

Following a period under Sony's ownership, the AIWA name was relaunched as an independent brand and is now used across a number of regional licensees. The product line centers on Bluetooth speakers, wireless and wired headphones and earbuds, turntables, and compact stereo systems, with releases such as the Exos-9 portable Bluetooth speaker and the ARC-1 Bluetooth headphones. Some regional operations also extend the brand into televisions and home appliances, while keeping personal audio at the core of the catalog.
