BEATSURFING is a Belgian music technology company founded by the Herrmutt Lobby collective, a group of musicians and developers active since the late 1990s and known for experimental controllerism — including early experiments using video game controllers as MIDI controllers. The original Beatsurfing iPad app, released in 2012 in collaboration with Belgian label Vlek, let users draw their own multitouch MIDI controllers on screen using shapes like lines, circles, polygons, and faders, then perform by sweeping fingers across them rather than just tapping.

The company has since expanded into desktop audio plugins distributed in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats. Notable releases include beatfader (a MIDI drum groove-box controller that began life as a Max for Live patch), LØW (a bass synth), CHEat code (a multi-effects processor developed with Grammy-winning producer Che Pope), the generative RANDOM and RANDOM Metal instruments built with producer Phazz, LunchTable (a pen-tapping instrument made with FKi 1st), 7DeadlySnares, and the DRUW drum instrument. BEATSURFING 2 continues the iPad app line as an AUv3-compatible build-your-own controller environment.

The team is headquartered in Belgium with additional offices in Los Angeles and Estonia, and a portion of the plugin catalog is also distributed through Plugin Alliance. The brand's tools tend to emphasize gestural, performative, and generative approaches to beat-making rather than conventional knob-and-fader workflows.

BEATSURFING has 10 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Instrument Bundles, Synth Plugins, and Drum Synth Plugins. Their gear is featured by 2 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Rock, and Pop. Notable users include Yoshimasa Terui and Breaka.
