Cuntz Guitars is a one-man luthier workshop run by Master Luthier Andreas Cuntz in Riedstadt-Crumstadt, Germany. Andreas began training as a plucked-instrument maker in 1994 at the violin-making school in Mittenwald, designed his signature steel-string acoustic CWG 23 in 1995, and earned the German Chamber of Handicrafts' national first prize for the design in 1996. He completed his master craftsman exam in 1999 with the CWG 23 12-String.
The shop builds entirely by hand in small numbers, with each instrument made from carefully selected tonewoods and tailored to the individual customer. The catalog centers on the CWG 23 acoustic series — including the CWG-23S steel-string and 12-string variants — alongside Weissenborn-style Hawaiian lap-steel guitars and custom acoustic and electric guitars and basses. The workshop also operates as a TAYLOR Gold-certified repair center.
Cuntz instruments have been picked up by a number of high-profile players, most notably fingerstyle guitarist Mike Dawes, who has collaborated with Andreas on signature models built around the CWG 23 platform.
