Generalmusic is an Italian musical instrument manufacturer with roots tracing back to Antonio Galanti's 19th-century accordion workshop in Mondaino. The modern company was founded in 1959 by the Galanti brothers as General Electro Music (GEM), with a professional-audio division, LEM, following in 1969. After acquiring the Elka brand in 1989, the company consolidated its operations under the Generalmusic name in 1994, keeping GEM, LEM, and Elka as product lines.

The brand is best known for its digital pianos, arranger workstations, and synthesizers. The WS series arranger workstations arrived in 1990, followed by the WX series in 1993 with General MIDI support and an integrated 16-track sequencer. The S-series synthesizers (S2, S2R, S3) debuted in 1992 as an attempt to compete in the professional synth market, later expanded via a dedicated Turbokit upgrade. Generalmusic's most ambitious synthesizer was the Equinox workstation (1998), built around a 64-voice architecture related to that of the Kurzweil K2500. The final synth generation, the Genesys series, added onboard sampling from an integrated CD-ROM and audio sequencer tracks. The company has also produced a long line of Pro digital pianos and home/stage instruments under the GEM name.
