GMedia Music is a UK-based virtual instrument developer founded in 2000 by Dave Spiers and Chris Macleod, focused on vintage synthesizer emulation and software recreations of classic analog hardware. The company released a string of plugins that became staples in software synth culture, including the M-Tron (a Mellotron emulation), the Oddity (an ARP Odyssey-inspired synth developed in collaboration with Ohm Force), the impOSCar (modeled on the OSCar, with filters later licensed to Spectrasonics), and Minimonsta:Melohman, a Minimoog emulation with patch-morphing capabilities.
Beyond plugins, GMedia Music also put out the Virtual String Machine, which recreated sounds from more than a dozen vintage string synthesizers, as well as expansion tape banks for M-Tron Pro and the Phat Boy hardware MIDI performance controller. The operation evolved into GForce Software Ltd in 2003, with most subsequent releases appearing under the GForce name, though earlier catalog products continued to circulate under the GMedia Music branding.
