Heartfield was a guitar and bass brand launched in 1989 as a joint venture between the American and Japanese arms of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Instruments were built in Japan at the Fujigen Gakki factory — the same facility responsible for high-end Ibanez models of the era — and designed in collaboration between Fender USA and Fujigen's R&D team. The line was intended to give Fujigen's designers room to explore concepts outside the boundaries of typical OEM work.

The catalog consisted of four electric guitar families — the Talon, Elan, EX, and RR — along with two bass models, the Prophecy and the DR. The Talon was the flagship superstrat, built with a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo and HSS or HSH pickup configurations aimed at hard rock and metal players. The Elan and EX offered more traditional body shapes, while the RR ("Rock and Roll") leaned into retro styling. Production wound down around 1993 as the superstrat market cooled with the rise of grunge and alternative rock.

Players associated with the brand during its run included Vinnie Moore, Russ Parrish, and Jeff Pilson. Heartfield instruments are no longer produced and exist primarily on the vintage market, where the Talon in particular has developed a following among collectors of late-80s and early-90s Japanese-built guitars.
