Lemon & Ginger is a boutique handmade effects pedal company based in Tokyo, Japan, operated single-handedly by builder Eigo Matsuo, who handles every step of the process — circuit design, hand-wiring, assembly, and hand-painted enclosures. The brand's ethos, summed up by its tagline "From Tokyo to the world," centers on small-batch artisanal construction rather than mass production, often incorporating vintage Japanese germanium transistors, new-old-stock capacitors, and other period-correct components.
The catalog is built largely around reinterpretations of classic effects circuits. The Muzz is a Fuzz Face–style fuzz (offered in variants with BC183A silicon and NKT275 germanium transistors), while the Rite is a germanium Fuzzrite-style fuzz and the Takotavia draws on the Tycobrahe Octavia octave-fuzz. The Centarou is a Klon Centaur-inspired overdrive, the Uneri is a vibrato, and other flagship models include the puzz and daidarabocchi. A separate J.F Series focuses on preamp-oriented designs such as the CE Preamp and AMMO nite.
Pedals are sold directly through the brand's web shop and through boutique retailers and the used market, with a niche following among fuzz and vintage-circuit enthusiasts who value hand-built Japanese pedal craft.
