Mastering The Mix is a London-based audio software company founded in 2014 by producer and engineer Tom Frampton. The company started as a mixing and mastering studio in central London before pivoting toward plugin development, after Frampton observed that many of his clients struggled with the same recurring technical issues in their mixes. Its first release, LEVELS, was built in collaboration with a developer to give producers clear visual feedback on common problems like clipping, dynamic range, and stereo balance.
The catalog has since grown to include REFERENCE (mix comparison against reference tracks), EXPOSE (pre-release audio analysis), BASSROOM and MIXROOM (frequency-balance assistants), RESO (resonance suppression), ANIMATE (harmonic enhancement), LIMITER, FUSER (frequency-clash detection), and FASTER MASTER (an automated mastering tool). The plugins emphasize visual guidance and intelligent suggestions aimed at producers working outside of acoustically treated rooms.
Mastering The Mix tools have been used by engineers and producers including Rik Simpson (Coldplay), James F. Reynolds (Calvin Harris, BTS), Focus… (Dr. Dre), Funkagenda, Dada Life, and Dirty South. The company also distributes a portion of its catalog through Plugin Alliance and Plugin Boutique.
Mastering The Mix has 20 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Dynamic Processor Plugins, Utility Plugins, and Referencing Tools. Their gear is featured by 2 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Hip Hop, and Electronic. Notable users include Mike Shinoda and kuroyuki ayeda..
