Sam Ash is an American music retailer founded in 1924 by violinist Sam Ash (born Shmuel Ashkynasye) and his wife Rose, who opened their first store in Brooklyn, New York. The business began as a small shop centered on band and orchestral string instruments, a natural extension of Sam's work as a violin teacher and gigging musician. Through the 1950s and 1960s, second-generation owners Jerry and Paul Ash broadened the inventory to reflect the rise of rock and roll, adding electric guitar brands such as Fender and Gibson and establishing one of the larger amplifier and effects pedal departments on the East Coast.

Under the third generation — David, Richard, and Sammy Ash — the company expanded into a national chain of Sam Ash Megastores and built an e-commerce presence at samash.com. The catalog spans guitars, basses, drums, keyboards and pianos, band and orchestral instruments, recording equipment, DJ gear, lighting, and live sound, alongside sheet music and vintage instruments. In 2024 Sam Ash was acquired by Gonher Music Group. The business continues as Sam Ash Direct, an online-only operation serving musicians across the United States.
