Tung-Sol is a vacuum tube brand with roots in early 20th-century American electronics manufacturing, originally producing tubes for radios, military equipment, and hi-fi gear before becoming a staple in guitar amplifiers built by the likes of Gibson and Harmony. The company is historically credited as the original designer of the 5881 and 6550 power tubes in the 1950s, and its vintage 12AX7, 6V6GT, and 5881 tubes developed a lasting reputation among guitarists and audiophiles for their warmth and musicality.

The Tung-Sol name is a registered trademark of Electro-Harmonix, which revived the brand as a line of reissue tubes manufactured at the Reflektor / Expo-PUL facilities in Saratov, Russia. The modern catalog covers a wide range of preamp and power tubes, including the 12AX7/ECC83, 12AT7, 12AU7, 6SL7GT, 6SN7GTB, 6L6GC STR, 6V6GT, EL34B, EL84/6BQ5, KT66, KT120, and KT150, along with specialty types like the EF806S.

The reissue 12AX7 in particular became a common upgrade and retube choice for guitar amplifiers, valued for its high gain, low microphonics, and three-dimensional character. Tung-Sol tubes are widely stocked through specialist tube retailers and the Electro-Harmonix shop, and are frequently used as original equipment and replacement tubes in boutique and mass-market tube amps alike.
