URS (Unique Recording Software) is an audio plugin developer founded by Bobby Nathan and Joanne Nathan in 2003, growing out of their experience running Unique Recording Studios in Times Square, New York City from 1978 to 2004. Bobby Nathan spent over two decades working with vintage Neve and API consoles and served as a design consultant for major manufacturers including Akai, EMU, Fairlight, Korg, Kurzweil, Roland, and Yamaha. Frustrated with the EQ plugins available for Pro Tools at the time, the Nathans set out to create faithful digital emulations of classic analog hardware. URS was nominated for the TEC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Signal Processing Software Technology in its first year of operation.
