I've played this guitar for 12 years. Why?
1. My only gift from my grandma, who passed away already.
2. With good amplifiers, it sounds great, but the stock pickups are trash for clean sounds. I replaced them, and the sound improvement is noticeable.
3. The build quality is not great, and the tuners are already broken
But I still love it because I had so much fun, enjoyed quality time with friends, and it helped me shape a style I cannot get it with any other guitar. Tried Gibson, Ibanez and the feeling is just not the same.
Can I recommend it? maybe not considering Squier does better in this market. But it's imperfectly perfect if you want to go into rock or blues.
I've played an Epiphone Les Paul for 12 years and definitely this feels like a solid upgrade.
What I loved the most are the pickups, specially the neck pickup: clean, balanced in EQ and perfect for Surf Rock which is the genre I'm getting into.
Things to improve: the frets are a bit sharp and quite hard to calibrate, but after those minor details, I have no reason to spend double on an American Fender for what I do
UPDATE: After 2 months, I could add a complain but easy to fix: the guitar has no shielding so it’s super sentive to signals and background noise. Just after sending it to a Luthier, the improvement is noticeable. Still super happy
If you want to play after unboxing, it's the worst sound ever in a multi-effects pedal. The presets are just awful, and the deNoise is just horrible.
Now... install the app, update the firmware, check the community presets, and add new sounds and the whole thing changes a 1000%. Still, the noise reduction is awful but give yourself a couple of hours to test and check forums. This is where you can get a solid result.
Not perfect, but for 60USD + the possibility to use it as an interface to connect to your PC and powered on a battery that lasts 4-5h approx, cannot complain at all.
