All the old Korg electribes had the same confusing names. The manual starts off "Thank you for purchasing the Electribe·RmkII (ER-1mkII)" (note the middle dot there before the R in the full name!). They then refer to it as ER-1mkII (in bold) throughout the rest of the manual. So it's both the "Electribe R" and "ER-1". The EA-1, ESX-1 etc. all had the same naming style.
But nobody ever calls it the "R" or even the "Electribe R", always "ER-1" in my experience.
... and because everybody calls it ER-1, if you keep the "R" entry and merge the other one, you'll just keep getting more and more duplicates from people who search for ER-1 and don't find it. Although, users of this site just seem to love creating dups even when the gear is already present and named correctly.
I'm confused here, what's the actual name of the item? ER-1 or just R?

And looking at the original box in front of me, it says both "ELECTRIBE RmkII" and "ER-1mkII".
