Toneprint editor = A very versatile Compressor
The two preset modes sound great on this compressor, but it's the ability to create your own presets using the Toneprint computer software which make this pedal stand out from other comp pedals on the market. Your self made presets can be sent and stored on the pedal via USB in no time at all. There is also a growing library of free Toneprints to choose from on the TC Electronic website. Multiband compression is definitely worth experimenting with. It seems you could make a suitable compression preset for any musical scenario / instrument once you get a grasp of how to use the software editor. One thing which could be improved is that the instruction manual doesn't go into too much detail about the Toneprint editor. I would welcome some tutorial videos for the software as there currently isn't much online and there are a lot of parameters which can be tweaked. It's quite a new product though, so I'll be keeping an eye on Youtube in the coming weeks. Other than that it's a great tool and pretty inexpensive.

A great tone sculpting tool
This is a great tool for shaping the sound of an instrument for a better fit within a mix. I use it mainly with the Roland TB-303 to exaggerate some of the higher frequencies for high register acid lines, or boost the low end for bass lines. Upping the gain control can create some nice distortion effects, together with the EQ allowing the tone to be sculpted with a lot more attention than anything which could be achieved with a standard distortion pedal. It's quick and easy to use, the 10 bands are very responsive. The illuminated sliders work as good reference when playing in a dark club. Recommended.

A very useful box of tricks.
A very useful box of tricks featuring a multimode filter, LFO, spring reverb and powerful distortion. I use this mainly with the Roland TB-303 ; the LFO is great for adding some subtle movement to an acid line, in a similar way to the inbuilt LFO on an SH-101. The filter sounds lovely, but be careful with that resonance control - it will blow speakers if you're not careful. I'd advise sticking a limiter or compressor after this in the effects chain. The distortion is great on drum machines, especially nice on 808 bass and snares I find.
