DC Versus Marvel

"No power on Earth …" except Doomsday. I guess Doomsday v.1.0 would defeat Hulk.

This is a great topic. I don't know what's better, the fact that it's on EB in the first place ... or the fact that you're taking it so seriously. I'm so happy right now, I have found new friends :) haha

you're in the right place... the EB forum-flies are pretty nerdy

If we weren't all nerds, we wouldn't be musicians. We would instead be pretending we have an rap album coming out or singing off key country karaoke in bars.

I dig over analysis. I have always been entertained by it. I remember once my childhood best friend and I were locked out of our third friends' ranch. We were cold, wide awake, and bored as all get it. We passed the time with questions like "What would be scarier to have spawn in town? Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 or a pack of raptors from Jurassic Park?"

When I was a kid, I wasn't so much into Marvel as much as I was just into the X-Men. Started with Cartoons on Fox and worked from there. Like you said though, Keaton's Batman made an impression. When I was 4, my babysitters were Predator, Batman, Star Wars, Running Man, Total Recall, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Batman and Predator were the first movie characters I pretended to be around the house and when playing near the creek outside.

I never saw a marvel character until like Second grade. To this day I could watch the X-men cartoons but I cant say the same for the Iron Man or Spider-man cartoons. They just didn't grab me.

I'm also reminded that the video games in the arcades were more grabbing for Marvel than DC. The X-Men arcade was so loud and awesome. The Avengers.... not so much.

Predator! Great movie. If we are getting away from DC and Marvel, I must add He-Man, Thundercats, Silverhawks, and TMNT. Of all of those, Thundercats were my favorite. Simple reason: opening theme song was BAD ASS. Really rocked, plus the french horn.

Didn't spend any time at the arcade, really. None close to my house. My friend down the block had a Sega console and I had a Texas Instruments system and the orig Nintendo console for a year or so, but then I kinda got tired of games. Really never been a gamer which is funny because I love board games.

remember the ORIGINAL TMNT comics before the cartoons and action figures? With the whole planet of Krangs????

I am REALLY getting into board games now. The newer ones anyway. Catan, Carcasonne, Pandemic, and ticket to ride are my favorites so far.

I didn't know this until recently, but the animated TMNT was created for the soul reason of advertising action figures.

I got Ticket To Ride [USA] as a gift a couple years ago and instantly loved it, so I bought the Europe version and expansion pack. It's a great game.

The early TMNT figures were awesome! I am not surprised. Beatles and KISS did the same thing, right?

I don't know about the Beatles doing it, but KISS whored their faces on EVERYTHING! Socks, can openers, comics, dolls, lamps, coach cushions, candy.

Pandemic is the first CO-OP game Ive ever played. It's all player versus the virus. You all have different abilities and you all work together to stop the virus outbreak before it gets too big. If played correctly, its VERY hard to win.

That does sound like a fun game. I love team play games, or rather, playing games with a teammate (like a 3-player game but doubles / with six people).

I now blame that show for the death of John Lennon

It was only the first episode ... watch a couple more before you judge too harshly LOL

I just discovered something about the DC Universe. Since death is considered "One of the Endless", she is actually above Necron and such. She is bound by no rules as being the oldest of the endless. She visits every person when they are born and takes each person to the other side when they die. She lives as a mortal for 24 hours and takes herself to the other side each day to remember the value of it all.

In the end of everything, after she's taken every living being to the other side, including the other endless, she will be by herself for eternity.

but wait, Gaiman's endless are part of the vertigo universe, not DC proper?

I'd say it's neutral territory. Marvel and DC exist alongside Vertigo and feature crossovers. When you look at Death from Vertigo DC, she looks an awful lot like Marvel Death.

Wait wait! Gaiman's death is equal parts goth and 80s Madonna who probably likes to come to the mortal plane to buy sisters of mercy t-shirts and Doc Martins on South Street (my ex-wife or any number of my ex-girlfriends could play her in a film adaptation), but in the Marvel universe she's some kinda druid reject from a spinal tap video!

"Stonehenge where the demons dwell...."

Its not Nigel's fault he don't know his feet from inches.

Marvel just rebooted all their franchises this year in the same way DC made "The New 52" series.

Some of these almost sound exciting. For those who grew up playing air guitar to the X-Men Fox Animated series, they have started a comic called X-Men '92 which picks up right where the cartoon left off. Same characters, artwork, and story arcs.

I think there are 5 different Deadpool comics.

Even though they said they were retiring Wolverine from comics.... they lied and made a couple comics. Old Man Logan, Wolverine (X-22 wearing the Wolverine costume), of course he's in X-Men '92.
