The tale of Aja made me appreciate it more. As cool as it is it was never my favorite cut on that LP. I've reassessed that position and I really hear it differently after that interview. It's not just weird and different, its fulla choose I took for granted since I grew up with it. Imagine making that record with reel to reel and no automation or maybe primitive automation, but still. Those guys were just that good.

People still write thoughtful lyrics, those people just don't get within spitting distance of the US charts anymore.

Sitting next to your record player with a big pair of headphones, reading the liner notes on the sleeve as you ponder the philosophical implications of what the artist is saying... people still do that... but this no longer describes anyone record companies are chasing when they pay to have musical streaming content made... they can more-effectively milk $$$ from the vinyl + headphones person with proven material made 40+ years ago, than they can with new product.

My first college roommate was a drummer from SD who was a huge Kretz-head. I wish I remembered half of the shxt that guy taught me about tuning drums.

Yeah, its rough. He's a great, creative drummer but he gets forgotten because his style is low to no flash:( easily overshadowed by the deleos and scotty. Not to mention all of Brendan's other work.
