OFF TOPIC

A patty melt is sort of similar down here. This is actually 2 separate grilled cheese sandwiches, overflowing with cheese, and cooked around 2 hamburger patties. When I think of a patty melt though, I think of sliced bread that is toasted and has a patty, cheese, and grilled onions on it.

I'm actually not exercising right now. It only makes up about 10% of your weight loss and I seem to be doing well just the way I'm eating. I work 10 hour shifts and am speed walking around a large grocery store all night, but walking hasn't ever made me thin.

The first half of this week, I made all my meals. This last couple of days, I have been nuking lower calorie frozen foods like Lean Cuisines. Tonight's my last night to work, so it will be easier to make my food again.

yeah, generally rye bread... but not as a rule.... I've had them on grilled hamburger bun bottoms too.... yum

well, I subscribe to lots of exercise regardless of the science, keeps me feeling energetic and that's a key to maintining my natural body weight for me... YMMV though

cooking your own food is a pleasure as well as being healthy and I think Americans are obese because theya re too tired to cook. I have to be dead beat not to cook a nutritious meal for me and my boy and I frequently invite friends and family over and still manage to live off the leftovers for a week of lunches. Just this week I thawed out the ham hock from my x-mas ham and made split pea soup, then I made pork marsala last night w/mashed potatos and green beans.... last week was pretty intense too. I made a few meals just from random food I ahd at home because Iw as too tired to go to the store, but they were all bad ass. I keep a stocked pantry so I can turn around and make a quick homemade marinara or knock out some easy scllopine or something without having to leave the house on a week night. Anyway... try cooking ahead... certain things freeze well in small potyions and can replace those high sodium lean cuisines when you are too busy to cook. I like to freeze individual meaty pasta sauce (add a little cream for Bolognese when reheating), chili, hearty soups (lentil, black bean and split pea survive a good month in there), homemade healthy Asian foods like Thai Basil Chicken.... stews like boef burgenoin do well in the freezer as does the filling for chicken pot pie (just buy frozen pie crust and thaw the crust and the filling a day ahead, preheat the oven when you get home and assemble it in a tin pie plate.... in an hour you have a legit pot pie... you can use a storebought rotisserie chicken for the filling and even gravy from a packet can be acceptable, though I prefer to use leftover roast chicken from my oven and my homemade giblet gravy, but I am insane)....

whoa off ona tangent, but this thread says "off topic"

Drool

I started doing Taekwondo again, and I suddenly realise if I don't eat well, I'll probably faint because my instructor means business.

Good on you getting healthy, Boom!

I love cooking hen I have the time. I don't blame fast food for my obesity though. I'm in it just for the addiction to the endorphin rush mostly, but the over romanticized relationship I grew up with helps. In my family, food was a big deal. It's how you loved someone, it's how you pleasured yourself. It made everything better. Movies, sports, etc. I cook, I just cook 7-8 portions at a time and eat them all until they are gone. Many times, I won't even refrigerate the leftovers because I know I'll just eat them in a a couple of hours. It's dangerous for me to have large meals around, but I also cook in large amounts, even when I don't want to. Self control is a struggle. I start my days now usually cooking a large amount of vegetables and filling up on water, then eating breakfast. Whatever I have left, I take to work. By the time the water and food have made room, I'm ready for lunch.

I have been using the Weight Watchers "Smart Ones" the last couple of days due to the new school schedule. I'm a fan. I've considered writing the company and seeking an endorsement.

I think I might get into patches. I'm having trouble finding one for Earth, but I already found a few for Sunn O))) and Dir En Grey. Now i need to listen to more bands and plan out where I put these patches.

aww man, patches, that takes me back to the 90s.... I wonder what ever happened to the messenger bag I sued to carry around the city.... it was covered with industrial and punk band patches I would love to see again...

Ooh, I actually have a messenger bag from Camp Pendleton. I just bought a new Eurosport backpack and i was going to use that as a template, but maybe I should get a better messenger bag with more space...

I always liked the messenger bag format because its good for more than just schoolbooks.... more of a man purse

This semester, I've been using the plastic bags from the school book store to carry my books. I've been too lazy to find and clean out my old backpack.

Wow, that's some next level laziness to have gone through the trouble of going to the book store. Do you not save your bags when go grocery shopping?
