OFF TOPIC

Not usually. If I have garbage, Ill go ahead and fill them, but there have been times when I had a mountain of plastic bags for months and just ended up throwing them out.

The book store bags are a thick plastic, so they are holding up better than grocery store bags anyway.

This semester, I've been using the plastic bags from the school book store to carry my books. I've been too lazy to find and clean out my old backpack.

just wow... you're like a recycling genius or total bum, not sure which

Very much neither. It comes down to laziness mostly. My backpack is under my truck. To get to it, I'd have to remove close to 100 lbs of ammunition, my bugout bag, the jacks, and all the junk that I have thrown in temporarily. Basically, I would have to clean to get to it, and I am not a cleaning type of guy,

ammunition? 100 lbs? that seems like s lot of bullets.... have you suffered frequent bear attacks?

SO MANY bear attacks brother.

I used to go shooting a lot and if I were visiting out of town, I would always get into a situation where I wouldn't have anything of my own to shoot. So, I started carrying a good amount of stuff just in case. Most of the ammo if 7.62x39 in wolf boxes but the bugout bag has a whole pocket of .22lr, a random grab bag of 12 gauge shells, and a few full extra magazines for a S&W M&P .40 which is my glove compartment gun. I hate pistols, so it lives in the glove box unless I feel I need it.

I also believe in being prepared. With so many people killing police these days, I would like to be in a position to help law enforcement or civilians for that matter if a crazed individual starts attacking others. It's not likely to happen to me, but it has happened a few times this last year even.

My bear gun is my auto shotgun. A failed experiment more than a reliable bear killer. I wanted a shotgun that could dish all my slugs quickly and would also be easier to maneuver with through tight woodlands and hallways. I ordered a stock for it that is amazing, but wouldn't fit the receiver, and I ended up leaving it stock for the most part. It's just a house gun now, usually propped up alongside my bedroom door. The cool stock I ordered ended up on a Maverick 88 field shotty (crazy long hunting pump) which is centralized in the house and leaning against my keyboard in the living room. All the roommates own firearms and keep theirs all to themselves but I have mine throughout the house in case we are doing dishes or working out when trouble knocks.

My bear gun is my auto shotgun.

Are you sure you're not on a list?

Mostly positive!

God damn patriot if ever I seen me one. Miller High Life & Hush Puppies are on me. Maybe Pecan Waffle down at the local Waffle House...True patriots are Red White & Blue but know their Yellow too dammit. Only wish there were more people who understood the need to scatter a 1/2 dozen or so firearms & other munitions around my 500sq foot living arrangements. Fuckers on wheels I gotta be prepared for anything' dammit!

I can't tell who's joking anymore.

Holy fucking blizzard outside my window! I know the weather people predicted this, but it was 65 degrees out and sunny yesterday. My son was playing in my back yard after dark in the yard because it was THAT warm into the night. Now this.

It's hit Detroit as well. I guess now we can say Hell froze over.

y'know, for as much as people trash Detroit proper there is still some arts and such, techno is from inner city Detroit and those originators still lvie there for the most part.... I personally thik Camden, across the river from me in NJ, is worse.... that city is ALL bad lands with very few honest working families interspersed and NO arts, civic sponsored or underground... drug dealers, prostitutes and a couple of government building in the middle near their train stations.... pretty much only the waterfront (around their aquarium) provides a zone of normalcy where criminals aren't operating openly... even around the government buildings you will be solicited by dealers, pimps and hookers and if you get out of view of security cameras or the odd stationed by civic buildings you may have tos tare down a mugger while backing up towards an area where you can be seen.... venture out of that small area and you better be willing to fight that mugger and hope he's not well armed because in Camden they will certainly beat you even if you give up your valuables without protest just so they are sure they can make good their escape to go get more dope and crack.... I think Detroit and Camden have been batting the 'murder capitol of the USA' title back and forth for some time, but for some reason Detroit maintains an udnesrveddly worse reputation, probably because its bigger and it has more derelict buildings while Camden has quite a few little businesses even in the worst areas like North, but MANY of these businesses are fronts for drug packaging, fence stolen goods or at least provide places of refuge for dealers and such on the run for a price... I don't think Detroit is as bad top to bottom, end to end, though it sure is hideous in person

anyway... I give US Hell status to Camden NJ

They say, due to "white flight", that Dallas, TX will be Detroit in 20 years.

until you visit Detoit or Camden don't believe the hype.... white flight alone is not the ticket, there are tons of white folks in Camden and though Detroit is predominantly black now its decline predated 'white flight' despite the mythos...everyone wants to make sense of things and put urban disasters in little, pat boxes, but its so much more complicated.... urban decay takes many forms and as you travel you realize that no 2 places are the same nor do they have the same story yet the environment becomes similarly dangerous

I've watched the rollercoaster of philly neighborhoods and race has little to do with it, its more about an injection of creative types as well as people willing to capitalize on the succesful ones that leads to renewal... and decline can often have as much to do with white artsy types fallen on hard times as it does to 'white flight'... there are complex social conditions going on and if Dallas only suffers from white flight don't expect decline, I lived in DC and there's heavy white flight apart from the itinerant politocos, but a lot of solid African American communities with vlues hold it together (apart from southest, which ash been the hood since WW1).... anyway

There is actually a Hell Michigan-totally not trying to be pedantic, just a shitty joke.

I'm from Detroit but left ages ago-but I know at least 10 people who have ditched Portland (Oregon) for Detroit cuz holy shit can you stretch a buck there! They rent out huge places & can afford to live off their artistic endeavors, if not thrive.

I've constantly got my eye on Detroit to hear/see/etc. what's being created there given that freedom.

Portland? Yeah, used to be like that. Then fucking Portlandia turbo charged the gentrification here-it's completely outta hand now. We've lost an unreal amount of venues, galleries, etc. There's a fucking running piece in our weekly rags to announce this months batch of Portland venues, dives, galleries that will be gone in the next 30 days!! Fuck!

I see nothing but kick ass opportunities in Detroit. Fuckin dammit-I just can't do cold weather or I'd already be there.

I toy with the idea of moving to the Midwest somewhere to build a scene and live off my creativity like I used to before the kid.... but I know I won't.

One day, I will buy myself a good looking motorcycle, like that green RE Classic 500 and just jump on a highway and just travel.
