Yea it is really not easy , there are some Names dublicates , if you want or not you have to deal with this, some artist haven even the exact name , thats nothing special a lot of people on earth share the same name, my name even exist 8 Times only in Germany and this is a typical british Name. But when you allow dublicates , you get messed up with the Data and Search Engine.

Also Companies sometimes share the same Names, they try to avoid it or sue each others for it , but until now I had about 4-6 cases where there are Brands the same and where you need to add something.

Some People Name their company with their Names , that is very often the case, like Fender , Martin ... is a typical way to go like Smith & Son good old times. Also a lot of Software Creater or Hand Made Instrument Builders give their Product and their Brand their own Name even the Full Name.

But also to mention this is Post your Item Request , not Artist.

Hope you will find a solution and someone to fix it.

We might need an artist edit and Brand edit at some point this will add up , I think and maybe also Dublicades with counts like Dan Smith (1) , Dan Smith (2)

I did also try to add Ben Johnson Bassists of the Band Merietta , but somehow this does not function and I think it is because there is another Ben Johnson or very similar name.

Also some did Add Japanese Bands and Names in Japanses Kanjis what is nice, but this is bad for the site I think, to find them and to avoid that the next one try to add it in English, because he did not find it, I think we need to change these ones too. Like Eriko Hashimoto is listed in the Band: チャットモンチー , but it should be just Chatmonchy in English.

This is baffling. So sometimes he's Jesse Wells, other times hes Jesse Welles... and his band is Welles. And there's a possibility Jesse Welles and Jesse Wells are different people with very similar voices? I cannot get this straight. It's far more confusing than Kurt's goofy name spelling which were obviously a joke...

The alternative was perhaps to post on the recent "Merging duplicate artists?" thread. However, creating a duplicate artist is exactly what I'm trying to avoid, Unfortunately if a mis-spelled artist name can't be edited to correct it then adding a corrected duplicate would seem to be the only solution.

In the the mean time, why is it I'm unable to add a Reverb link to the Hofner Shorty Violin Bass I've just added. It keeps telling me I'm wrongly formatted! Is it an Atlantic Ocean thing?

So let me get this straight while we wait. Jesse here has gone by the surnames Welles and Wells and in the band Welles he spells his surname Wells no E, but had gone by Jesse Welles with an E as a solo artist some years prior to forming Welles the band and now goes by Jesse Wells as the front person of Welles?

He seems to have settled on Jesse Welles on his YouTube channel and most of his social media and is shortly appearing in London on tour under that name.

The fact that he's previously performed under the name Jeh Sea Welles suggests he might be bit sensitive about how his name is said. Whether the extra E inserted into his original Wells surname means we're supposed to speak his name as "Jessie Wellies"?... well, I'm not so sure 🙃

I think it should be spelled as his full stage name Jesse Welles. It's the name he's touring under and gaining airplay with as a singer songwriter over here. "Welles" seems to have been a previous rock (band?) or business incarnation and so I think that should be listed as a band and not the artist. Kind of like David Jones ≠ David Bowie ≠ Ziggy Stardust.

The issue is that when I search his name Jesse Welles here to check out the gear, nothing comes up. Likewise when I'm about to add "Jesse Welles" as an artist, "Welles" is not offered as an already existing artist alternative. So it seems to me inevitable that someone will add him as a duplicate artist if we don't resolve it.
