Name: [1981 Yamaha FG-400D]

Image: [reverb.com/au/item/78280931-yamaha-fg-400d-acoustic-guitar-mij-1981-natural-w-bag]

This is a vintage yamaha acoustic guitar.

Are you ok with this image?

I hate adding things that don't have a clean background, if it can be avoided. Just need you to confirm this is actually an FG400D in the photo.

Yes, that's the correct guitar. Thanks heaps

All three of those are correct. It’s known as the 8-voice. Schmidt is the designer, EMC is the distributor

I see that we have an FG400a in the database.

Do you happen to know the differences between a 400a and a 400d?

If they are identical in all the ways that matter (tone/playability) perhaps I could just modify this entry to be for all FG400 guitars?

Ah, I had looked for "synthesizer" so didn't find it because it is misspelled in the link

No worries. I didn't find it on my first search either.

It's a German company, right? So maybe some of our Deutsch friends can chime in. I suspect 'synthetizer' may be how it's spelled in Deutschland. I took latin and spanish so I'm just spitballing here. Schmidt claims their synths spare no expense. No corners cut anywhere. I sure would love to try one. It looks gorgeous.

Yamaha FG-400D and FG-400D are quite different. The FG-400D is an uncommon (possibly not exported) model, made from 1980 to 1986. Solid Ezo spruce top, Indian rosewood back & sides, Nato neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard & bridge. Where as FG-400A was sold from 1989-95 spruce top (no binding), nato back and sides, nato neck, Bubinga fretboard chrome tuner. FG400D is the high end variant of the 400 series making it cost nearly 10 times more.

I doff my hat to your wood-choice knowledge, that's exactly what I needed to hear:

https://equipboard.com/items/yamaha-fg-400d

If you get a free moment, could you add some of that info on wood selection/specs to the description of this new entry?

Also, your score here is approaching 500. If you made a few more artist submissions (or like 30 more forum posts/replies, some more reviews even...) , you'd break 500 and be able to add discontinued/vintage items to the database. Anyone with this kind of guitar-construction knowledge is an asset in this community... so this is me encouraging you to chip in if you can. Thanks!

Can you please add the Digitech MV-5 Vocal Harmony Processor to the site? From what I saw in a few posts, Eiffel 65 used it for their song "Blue", but I can't add it onto Equipboard to add it to their equipboard since there is no selling pages of it anywhere.

Here's an image/page of it: https://reverb.com/item/22235014-vocalist-vocoder-harmoniser-digitech-mv5-vocal-harmony-processor-midi And here's the proof page of Eiffel 65 using it: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=380450#:~:text=The%20effect%20in%20question%20is,the%20Digitech%20MIDI%20vocalist%205.

I have added the MV-5 to the database. HOWEVER, please do not submit this to Eiffel 65's profile using a forum post as "proof"... as this isn't exactly proof, it's conjecture. If you pass it on to Equipboard, it's hearsay.

You'll need to find a verifiable source. Happy hunting!
