Hi-Fi equipment is a gray area for the database. Gear like this can be useful for monitoring your music, for sure, but we're trying to limit items that aren't sold at Musical Instrument stores... especially as of late.

I don't see anything in this article that would identify this piano as the "GC 1 M PE" specifically. Do you have other information that confirms it is this exact model? And this exact model was for sure on the market when David Bowie sold the apartment in 2002? Because the timeline dictates that he would have purchased this piano no later than 2002.

I went through Yamaha's whole grand piano catalogue, comparing this piano (as seen in this article as well as other photos and videos from the apartment) with each model and their structures and colour choices. GC1 was the only match as far as I can tell. Colourwise, I believe he had polished mahogany.

But did you confirm that exact model was for sale in 2001 or earlier? The research you've done is impressive, but you'd need to go through a catalog from 2001 or earlier to see what models were for sale in that timeframe. you're asking for a very specific version of the GC1, we need prove that that exact model of GC1 was available prior to 2002 when David Bowie sold the apartment.

OR, you could play it safe and just log it as a "Yamaha Grand Piano" without trying to pin down the exact model just from photographic evidence.

I would strongly recommend taking this route. You can put in the notes of your submission that the details point to it being a specific model of GC1.

OR I could create a new generalized entry for Yamaha Baby Grands if you are confident this piano is in that size range. We could even do a generalized entry for the GC1 if you've can verify that this model was on the market at the time and that this piano absolutely is not the slightly larger GC2, for example... the point of having restrictions on users under 500 points is to help train users to create more generalized gear entries that can be re-used for other submissions at a later time. Having an entry for an exact sub-model of Yamaha GC1 is what we are trying to avoid, as this entry, in all likelihood, would only ever be associated with one artist, ever.
