Under ground rock scene in the UK

Ever heard of drenge lads.

no, but they have a badass sound.... song is a bit boring to listen to all the way through, but good stuff overall

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Which ones have you heard.

the one you just psoted.... I barely follow new music from the states and we don't get all of your music over here.... in my youth I sought this shit out, but I can't be bothered anymore as I seldom listen to music I already know about anymore let alone stuff I am unsure of quality-wise... I am usually busy and distracted to boot... I have today to myself.... I should be working on my own tunes, but I just can't come up with a single lyric today... I have nothing to say, alas

so if you link me a song I will probably listen as its helping me to procrastinate

While you're at it. Any idea what the intro song is for all these reading videos.

I like "the woods", nice hooky chorus that doesn't do exactly what I expect from a brit band would do

this band is VERY British in the post-punk sense... most of their stuff just makes me want to listen to older bands who did it better

I am very proud to have sat outside the gates of that cement works on a school trip to that area. It's every bit as a shiny, and beautiful as it seems, but as my geography teacher hammered into me, it's a hundred percent essential to the local economy, as the nearest villages (Castleton, and Hope), have around 600 residents each.

It's a beautiful area though, the English peak district, it's between Sheffield, and Manchester, and it's inceibly picturesque in parts, and not so in others (ie the cement factory).

all those hideous factories around Manchester gave us Joy Division, so we need them there

Jim, what you think of these? you too Duke, just bass and guitar haha

Overrated mate. They nicked the idea, and sound from another band I just can't remember who. The general opininon of them changed when everyone's Dad started liking them.

its so generic sounding I couldn't pick just one band that Royal Blood ripped off.... 10 years ago there were about 2 dozen bands just around Philly that sounded like them and it was already boring then

Haha, I'm not massively into them to tell you the truth but am listening to them at the moment because I've never actually listened to them properly haha. I'm just bored and though you might like them when you asked what song it was :P

not a fan, nothing new and nothing particularly inspired in this zep-meets Sabbath late 70s inspired idiom.... they were playing this kind of pentatonic riff rock in the 90s and it felt fresh after the 80s, but only the strong survived.... in my youth these guys woulda been blown outta the water by the heavier seattle bands and the stoner rock acts of the day

I'm not telling you not to listen to them or not to like them, I am just saying I don't and I'm explaining why. Also, Josh Homme is calling and he wants his guitar sound back.

this is making me want to listen to blue cheer or the groundhogs....

na, I know that, I don't perticularly like them either, just something to listen to for a bit, never really listened to them so more curious what the hype is about. I've heard a lot of bands that have had similar sounds in the past etc. Haha, I love queens of the stone age, now that is the shit!

Was the bleached hair only for a period then?

Stoner Rock as a whole is amazing. QOTSA is only a tiny slice of the awesomeness you will encounter is you journey into the mystical world of stoner music.

Was the bleached hair only for a period then?

I had a lot of hair colors back in my 20s... the pink Mohawk was the most amusing
