The Big Muff: Original, Mini, or Nano

a tube amp no one wants that's boken, then warm up your meter and solering iron... or look at quilter, but its expensive

for real, what's your max potential budget????

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

okay, so, right now I have a hundred going to a used guitar, nd some extra cash coming in, so... seven hundred???? absolute max is 1000

you're good in general, whadaya want though? 700 to a grand wil get you anything but the creme de la creme in vintage or boutique and I have that stuff and its diminishing returns from where most people sit. Unless you a guitar god the nuance will be lost. Even as a pretty touch sensitive payer I like my ac30HW just fine, it gets what I do and get s t out there for about a grand. And its pretty.

You toyed with the switchmode stuffs much?

... probably an old marshall... maybe a cheap vox? ac15? I like Vox gain a lot, they get real mean, plus I need cleans. But... I have always wanted the gold-plated tank that is a Marshall JCM.

at a grand you can get a beat up 2203 or 2204 or a clone. they kill it fr rock, but venture out and they eat shit. also they like to be played pretty loud, the MV is suggestion that says "play me at 5 or up!"

LOUD AMPS

an ac30 is almost as loud as a 2204 and a an ac15 is maybe 75% as loud tog et the tone, though the clean sounds are good at any level on either because they are cathode bias

i;m a psycho, I know everything about everything being an old skool recording engineer who services and builds shit and i seriously pooo poo all of it, its just info if I can't get THAT sound and have sme cool tools.... but I ahte people feeding misinformation when i know it all like a fuzz/amp/guitar svengali... I balance it all with being a bad ass player too, I can play and write my ass off... lay it down with yor hero and then throw him with an interesting mixylidian placement to tie together an odd transition

I have forgotten more theory than most of the members of EB will ever learn.

Same here, i haven't seen them in a shop to try out but a buddy in Deerhoff has gushed about them a ton.

yeah, all the trenton/north Philly, Richie Cole & Gamble/Huff/phillyInternational, downbeat set of guitarists rock quilters and sound killer.. and I have MAD fucking respect for those cats because they can outplay me all day and not a lot of people can do that.. especially in a leee ritenour sense or flatpick speedy slidey shit! and they are all clean tone hounds
