Sounds like the original & smokes the newer VCA comp by SSL.

Is it using the older can style dbx VCAs? There's somebody selling one locally for a really good price and I'm tempted... the warm version is not accurate though it does something else I like with the discrete transformer balanced output and I actively dislike SSL's current version, and when you're paying that kind of money you need to get more than the brand name!
