gigsucker's Studio Setup
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro open-back monitoring headphones
I use it mostly for low end control. That's why I stay on default pads, the "analytical" pair sounds quite harsh and remind me of NS10s, which is good, but for different goals.
I didn't have many headphones because years ago I decided I just hate it. Turns out I hated it because I had the wrong ones! This Beyers are amazing, 10/10. Should get them earlier

Outstanding. You should write up a review on these. Pairing them with any special headphone amp, or are they giving you what you want across a bunch of different output sources?
Well, I use them with Universal Audio Volt 1 for now, they are loud enough and such, BUT
for mixing I have to turn volume knob on 2-3 o'clock, and this must add noticeable amount of nonlinear distortion, so technically with the amp they should be way better. Unfortunately, I have zero knowledge about headphones amps, so I am not ready to pick one, it's like a blackbox market for me now. Also, I have plans to change my interface for upper tier, maybe I'll get more headroom from it, idk. Feels like getting an amp is just a matter of time, but volt1 is good enough to not suffer
It's a black box market for me too. The people I know who get into headphone amps just start spouting nonsense... it's an abyss. My solution was just to stop buying headphones that demanded a good headphone amp. ;)
Haha, amps usually matter a lot, but headphone amps widely occupied by audiophiles and those dudes compromise it all \o/ I like someone's quote like "audiophiles are astonishing human beings, keep focus for years on specific things and still don't know a shit how those things really work..."
