Critic Reviews

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO review - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

While the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones deliver superb sound quality and boast a solid, comfortable build, they come with notable drawbacks. The complex ear pad swapping mechanism can frustrate users, and the need for an external amp to drive them properly adds to the inconvenience. Soundstage may not impress as much as expected, and their open-back design allows for sound leakage. For professionals and audiophiles with deep pockets, these headphones provide an excellent experience, but the slightly cumbersome setup may deter casual users. Worth considering if you're committed to studio-level sound.

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO Review - RTINGS.com

rtings.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones deliver a premium build and comfortable fit, making them an enticing choice for audiophiles. Their open-back design creates an immersive soundstage and excels in reproducing neutral audio, but be warned: they can be tight on the head and produce piercing sibilants on brighter tracks. Not ideal for commuting or outdoor use due to significant sound leakage, these headphones shine in quiet environments. While offering two sets of ear pads for sound customization, the price may not justify the marginal improvements over lower-end models. Ultimately, they are a solid pick for critical listening, but potential buyers should consider their specific needs before diving in.

Beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro Review – Headphones.com

headphones.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro has solid build quality and impressive bass, but its sound signature leaves much to be desired. The highs are overly sharp and fatiguing, requiring significant EQ adjustments to achieve a pleasant listening experience. While it excels in soundstage and dynamics, the tonal balance suffers greatly, making it less appealing compared to competitors at a similar price point. If you're willing to tweak the EQ, you might find some enjoyment, but the hefty price tag raises questions about its overall value.

beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO Review - Headphone Guru

headphone.guru

The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones are a stunning blend of craftsmanship and sound quality that leaves listeners in awe. With exquisite design and an exceptional out-of-the-box experience, these headphones shine in clarity, depth, and dynamic range, especially in the critical 100-400 Hz frequency range. The reviewer praises their ability to deliver a rich sound across various genres, making them a top contender in the price range. However, while the enthusiasm is palpable, there is a hint of bias towards personal preference, suggesting that they might not cater to everyone’s taste. Overall, the DT 1990 Pro is lauded as a must-have for serious audiophiles.

Solid.

They may not be as modern and finely tuned as the MK ii of these cans, but for mixing and monitoring this thing is still quite the competitor and I couldn’t imagine having to use something below it. They’re not amazing for listening to music but that’s not what they’re for anyway.

Great headphones for mixing and mastering

Not my favourite for listening, but definitely my go-to for mixing! Aside from the quite loud peak at 8kHz they are fairly neutral, and for me personally the mixing kinda just mixes itself with these. I got mine used for 250 Euros, and for that price I think it is great value. But 550 Euros is a bit steep, so if you are on a budget consider the DT770 or the Sennheiser HD560s

The Best In the Open Back

Quite simply my go to Studio Headphones. These are truly Top Tier and built to last with an outstanding Sound Quality.

solid build and solid sound

Definitelly need to be EQed. Using sonarworks which already knows their frequency response and has a profile already made to EQ them to sound flat, they sound terrific.
