About this setup

Looks classy with that strap! Any modifications or just stock? I’ve still yet to play one of the J Mascis models but I’ve heard they’re different sounding because of the pickups compared to more traditional JM’s. Also, it might just be the light, but it looks like you’ve got one with the Rosewood fretboard instead of Indian Laurel. Aesthetically I like the dark Rosewood best
@lazarus, yeah it’s a really early Rosewood one, and I haven’t even treated it yet. I will do some fretwork on it, all stock but I’m thinking of some new bridge saddles at least.
As an offset lover, I have to say—this one is surprisingly good for a Squier, especially for those who are into alternative rock or shoegaze. The P90s might not make it a traditional surf-rock Jazzmaster, but the modern modifications make a lot of sense to me. I also really appreciate that it keeps the rhythm circuit, which is actually one reason I find it more interesting than the Player II. Within my budget, if I could only get two Jazzmasters, I’d go for this J Mascis and a American 60s.
@hengrui_zuo thanks man!! This is one of the two electrics I play regularly, the other one I have is a Jason Isbell Tele. The rhythm switch is awesome for fuzzy leads, I quite like the way it interacts with a nice Fuzz Face.
