Aelita 1

his guitar was called the AELITA 1 made at the Rostov-on-don factory in Russia, it was an accordion factory which is why the scratchplate and buttons look like they came off an accordian ! The Aelita guitar was named after Alexi Tolstoi’s famous science fiction heroine. She was the Queen of Mars in his novel which was made into a 1928 silent film. The Aelita 1 was manufactured from around 1978-9 and was still in production up to 1985. You may notice on this guitars headstock that its got the wording Aeluma ? ..Why ? Well, the Aeluma was made at its sister factory in the Belorussian Borisov factory of musical instruments. Some guitars did not even have a name on the headstock, they had a few different production methods and produced other models too, but the Rostov on Don was considered the better model. Unfortunately the quality though is very poor when compared to USA guitars – especially the fingerboard which needs a lot of work just to get it playable. The electrics though are a revelation and the tone variety is remarkable.

Amped-up One of the most clever and well-known concepts in the early ’60s guitar boom was the Silvertone Amp-in-case line. For well under $100, you could get a guitar that came in a case featuring a 5-watt (later, 6-watt) tube amp built right in. Just open the case halfway, stand it up, switch it on, and wail. The original guitar in the 1962 kit (1448) was a single pickup, short-neck model. A year later, the 2-pickup 1449 was introduced and the Amp-in-case really took off. The 1449 is the most rare of the breed, being replaced by the almost identical redburst 1457 in 1964. This guitar screams.

A. I. R. (Alternative Internal Resonance) design: Using Yamaha's original Alternative Internal Resonance technology the RGXA2 and RBX4A2 offer players excellent lightweight characteristics without sacrificing sound quality. -The body consists of a lightweight core sandwiched between hard woods on top and back.(1) -Three metal tubes (sound tubes) installed under the bridge plate transmit string vibration to the body, and return body vibration to the bridge.(2) -The top board quickly responds to string vibration passing through the bridge. Special sound tubes passing through the body produce rich resonance in the core material. Original Bridge: In rethinking bridge design, Yamaha has succeeded at creating a compact, lightweight bridge that delivers outstanding function. Removing protruding screws leaves a simple design that delivers extended performance when playing close to the bridge. Special sound tubes installed under the bridge pass through the body transmitting string vibration directly to the body.

LED Pickup Indicator: The single volume control and a 3 position rotary pickup selector are joined by LEDs surrounding the volume control, providing bright visual indication of the pickup in use

RGXA2 Neck: Fingerboard width is the same as guitars in the RGX series, like the RGX220DZ, but with a medium thickness. This design makes chords easier to hold and offers greater stability for the left hand. Greater neck mass also contributes to a richer sound.

Original Headstock:Yamaha has moved from tradition with strong design features including twotone 3-D sculpting, cylindrical aluminum machine heads (RGXA2), and perfect weight balance, all wrapped up in sleek, fresh lines.
