Professional VSTi
I think the Nexus is the best VSTi when it comes to variety of instruments and styles, different from Sylenth1 and others, the Nexus has a focus in closer productions songs to commercial and EDM.

Does everyone's home-studio/inthebox dance music music sound the same anymore because you guys all use the same handful of plugins to generate synth textures? I get it now....

Nop, you are wrong, i use various plugins, but when we are talking about external VSTis I prefer the following:
Sylenth1 Nexus Massive Spire MorphoX FM8 Vanguard Surge TruePianos

right, that's what I meant. the 1st 3 are easily the most reviewed VSTis on EB and nexus is basically a ROMpler while Massive and Sylenth are dripping in presets so you don't need to bother to program patches. Anyway, maybe you program a lot of from scratch patches, I dunno. Some of this stuff has just become so ubiquitous and the presets so overused that it bums me out.
