Simple, straight forward, and smokin' good

This amp really only does one thing: British crunch. But it does it incredibly well. You can coax some OK clean tone out of this by rolling off the gain and turning the volume down on your guitar, but it's never going to give you the glassy cleans that a Fender or some Mesa amps will provide.

If you're not a frequent clean player, this will work beautifully. But if you like your distortion, this can do everything from slightly overdriven blues to high-gain metal and solos (though I'm not a fan of the distortion with the amp gain dimed, so I'd recommend rolling it back to 2 or 3 o'clock and putting an overdrive pedal in front to get there).

As far as features, you've got built in attenuation (15w and 7w), and a tone nob (seems to just be a mid boost/cut). Again, this isn't going to give you a wealth of tonal options, but it gives you will sound incredible.

Come on. It's a 58. What more do you want?

There's a reason nearly every touring professional uses this. It sounds great and is almost indestructible. Just go get one.

This thing is the secret sauce

With unbeatable tone and three switchable channels to store your favorite sounds, this may be the only pedal you'll ever need. Buy one.

Great pair for a PF-300 or PF-500 amp

I have one paired with the PF-500 head that I use as a regular gigging amp. The head bolts directly onto a flip top for easy transport/storage.

Only issue is the poor quality of the carry handle. Since there are no side handles, the top carry handle is the only way to move the amp any distance. I've had to replace it four times in the three years I've had it.

Great head that is easy on the back

Ampeg advertises this as their way to get that SVT tone in a small package that's easy on the back. It's not an SVT. If you're hellbent on that tone, go buy an SVT. But the sound this guy gives is still amazing and the weight is a fraction of what the larger amps are.

It's a fantastic amp for a working musician who doesn't want to lug a bunch of gear to a show.

The one that started everything.

My first bass well past a decade ago.

Active preamp that allows for tone shaping and a neck that plays beautifully. As a starter, you'd be hard pressed to do much better. Pickups are a little lacking in clarity.

Mine has been gutted electronically and currently has a Mike Pope core 2.2stk preamp installed along with EMG HZ pickups.

The standard

I've had this thing for about seven years and it is exactly what you'd expect. A dependable, well playing gig machine. In recent years, it's been relegated to backup status behind a Stingray, but it has put in its time and done well.

This thing doesn't do anything special, but it does its job well and lasts forever.

Mine has had the electronics completely swapped for a John East J-Tone 01 preamp and Delano JC 4 AL pickups.

Excellent workhorse of an instrument

A great gigging instrument with excellent versatility because of the 3-band on board pre-amp. Also, the three way pickup selector allows you to get different sounds out of the single pickup (top - both coils in series, middle - bridge coil only, bottom - both coils in parallel). More importantly, it plays incredibly well. The neck is the best thing I've ever held and the string spacing is just perfect.

Mine also has a piezo pickup under the bridge as well as a blend know between it and the main humbucker. It probably won't be the last bass I ever buy, but it'll be the last one I truly need.
