It's a great pedal. It really reacts as an amp distorting. It has three levels (using the pickup selector). The up position is a beautiful subtle transparent overdrive, more like a boost. The middle position sounds more balanced. The top position it's a heavy and fat overdrive. There's no piercing highs or undefined lows, it's just great. I highly recommend it.

It's the closest to the Tube Screamer you will get for the price. I like using it as the dirtiest overdrive in my chain.

It's just the best. Transparent and stable. Sounds good with any amp, guitar and effects. I wish I had one more!

I own a late 90s, without the mouth. I think it's one of the best modern ones. Despite its Germanium transistors, it's very stable and works really well with humbuckers.

I have an older one, not the "A" version but the one that doesn't have a ac input. Unfortunately, every V847 that I've played begins to crack after a while. I've heard it can be solved cleaning its pot, which I find pretty annoying.

I have in black, hard reliced, with a Seymour Duncan Vintage Stack on the bridge. The neck pickup is pretty low, compared to the Seymour Duncan. The neck profile feels like a modern C shape. Very comfortable. Frets are medium, not sure which type. It stays in tune marvelously.
