Jim Root, a long time user of the EMG 81/60 combo, began the process of developing a signature set well over three years ago. After trying various prototypes Root was inspired by a set of modified Retro Active pickups to tailor his tone. He settled on a set that gave him everything he loved from the 81/60 with the added benefits and versatility of the Retro Active design. Unlike traditional open coil pickups, both the bridge and neck pickup utilize stud poles. The fingerboard pickup uses ceramic studs giving it a clean high-end percussive tone. The bridge pickup has black steel poles and features a ceramic magnet, similar to the EMG 81. Both pickups feature custom Retro Active preamps exclusive to the Root set.

The Starstream lineup has now been expanded to include two bass models – the 2S with two Aguilar® jazz-type pickups, and the 1H with an Aguilar® humbucker pickup. While it features the same frame structure and body balance, the Starstream Bass also adopts a short scale length and compact body to remain lightweight and functional. This bass will be perfect for all players, as the Aguilar® pickups and on-board preamp provide a rich sound quality and flexibility.

The Red Spiral has three gain modes. The Low range is intended for clean boost, dynamic enhancement, and light drive. This is great for boosting an amp, other pedals, or "sweetening" your tone in a musical way. The Middle range specializes in lively "crunch" tones and moderate drive (great for a wide variety of styles), and the High range is capable of classic high gain tones. These are great for leads as well as chords reminiscent of hard rock, early metal, and shoegaze (naturally). All three modes are implemented in a hand-wired discrete signal path, with the mandatory touch sensitivity and amp-like character present in all of Christopher's overdrive designs. A powerful “Tone Pyramid” with High, Low, and a musical mid-emphasis Peak control interact with your guitar pickups, allowing you to match the pedal to your rig and dial in the tone you need.

The standard MTX8 is an 8 input, 8 output, active analogue device, featuring full buffering of all inputs and outputs, allowing parity gain summing. Routing configuration is achieved by use of a 64-point pin matrix. Inserting a 2mm banana pin into a point on the matrix connects that input (the numbered vertical axis) to a corresponding output (the lettered horizontal axis). All inputs and outputs on the MTX8 are ¼ inch jacks. The device is unbalanced but will pass balanced signals fed to/from it via two or three pole jacks.

It requires 9V DC, 200mA, centre negative power. This follows the standard of high power guitar pedals. A power supply for your territory is included in the box, however it is recommended that you use the best guitar power supply you have available. Devices such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power range are ideal. Internally, it runs on ±15VDC rails, so is able to tolerate “professional” line level signals without problem (up to around +24dBu).

The Fredric Effects Blue Monarch overdrive is based on the popular Blues Breaker overdrive of the 90s, with the mods offered by the KoT version of this circuit with the long waiting list! We've redesigned the layout so all four controls are external, added a toggle switch to replace the DIP switch functions, and added a switchable boost stage because we were never quite happy with the overall volume of the BB/KoT. We've also slightly increased the maximum gain available, to make this a very versatile pedal.

We’re excited to introduce our latest collaboration with Brad Paisley, the Secret Agent: a neck position pickup that’s recessed and hidden under the pickguard of your Fender Esquire to provide the tonal options of a traditional Telecaster, while still reducing the magnetic pull on your guitar’s strings to achieve both the bridge pickup sustain and classic look of an Esquire. And, each one is handmade in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop.

The ’50s brought on the emergence of rock ‘n’ roll, jazz combos, and electrified country. Unfortunately, that meant guitarists’ feedback-prone hollow body electrics were now on the losing side of the volume wars. Seeing a need and taking a cue from the day’s popular solid body lap steel guitars, Leo Fender decided to apply those construction principals to a 6-string. What he arrived at was a plank of wood, a bolted-on neck, and lonely single-coil pickup – derived from the ones found on his lap steels. Add in a 3-way switch for added tonal control, and the Esquire, not the Telecaster, gave birth to the solidbody electric guitars we know today.

While the design did set the music world on its ear, it wasn’t long before guitarists were asking Leo for a guitar with warmer, less aggressive tones as well. Not one to ignore requests from great players, Fender added a uniquely designed neck pickup to the Esquire and changed the 3-ways switch into a pickup selector, creating the first Telecasters.

Well…sort of. The new model was initially called the Broadcaster, which gave way to the No-Caster, then finally settled on the Telecaster. But that’s a story for another time.

A glance through popular music in any era proves the immense popularity of the Tele. And it continues to be a go-to guitar for every style of guitar playing out there. But there was still something magical about the Esquire that a Tele could never quite replicate. Because of its lack of neck pickup, which subjects the strings to constant magnetic pull, the Esquire offered an aggressive attack, fullness, and sustain that many players simply can’t do without.

One of those players is country music superstar and undisputed titan of the Tele, Brad Paisley. Though primarily known for eliciting his signature twang from T-style guitars, whether onstage or in the studio, he has always kept his Esquires close by. Their openness, power, and added sustain are all part of his journey to the top of the guitar world.

You don’t need cream & sugar with this one, the freshly-brewed tones of the Cafetiere are enough to keep you going!

Based on infamous “Percolator”, the Cafetiere takes the bare bones of the circuit and expands it into a tweaker’s dream, adding in a bunch of extra parameters to let you dial in the perfect fuzz tone.

In addition to the standard Level & Gain controls we’ve added a second gain control that is selectable with with the Gain 2 footswitch.

The Tone control is a useful low pass filter that is great for taming some of the harsher top end frequencies this circuit can have (especially if using a single coil guitar). Starve reduces the voltage available to the circuit, allowing you to create some really gated/lo-fi fuzz tones. Feed sweeps the input capacitance from low to high which alters the bass response.

We’ve then added a 6 way rotary switch that lets you choose between various different clipping options for the diodes, these are Germanium, Silicon, Red LEDs, MOSFET, Transistor & None.
