smooth drive

low gain OD with a lot of EQ tweaking options. Can get pretty extreme in the bass delivery when it comes to the extreme settings.

80's chorus

beautiful lush chorus. No tinkering with knobs here, it's four options, and I just wish I had 4 of those pedals to have all of them available all the time.

boss' most misleadingly named pedal

the 'digital' part in this pedals name refers to the digital slapback/doubling/chorus effect it allows you to switch in. Do yourself a favor and keep that turned off. What you're left with is a very nice and smooth high-gain drive that feels like the missing link between a vintage big muff and a Rat. Packs quite a punch too. because of the name and the color scheme this pedal is often mistakenly thrown in the heavy metal/metal zone pool, but it's a very different animal indeed. This one is Gilmour drive in a box!

not very subtle

this pedal excels at delivering the sound of tearing velcro. Or grinding through gravel, depending on the setting of the flux knob. the octave down switch instantly renders your playing completely superfluous, and generally speaking this pedal doesn't do any subtleties. It does deliver on its name though.

who needs it? no one. But you want one all the same

This is by far the most pointless and useless pedal I own. And it tracks not particularly well. But it does weird out everyone around you.... love it!

half sized klon

if you're after a klon-type drive, get the archer. It's built like a tank, decently sized and priced and it delivers all of the complex lo-gain drive you'd want.

transparent drive

beautifully transparent and complex overdrive. doesn't do extreme gain settings, but packs quite a punch into a decent clean amp. for massive crunch i tend to run a klon-type overdrive into it to give it a little more oomph.

cool and weird

very cool sounding pedal with lots of different sound options. tempo syncing is brilliant, and you can create massive rhythm patterns with it. MIDI implementation is a bit funky, and does choke sometimes. Also the visual interface for dealing with presets is a little clunky.

excellent 19" pre-amp, best clean in the universe

have owned this pre-amp for about 15 years. The clean channel is warm, deep and complex with tons of headroom, and I would keep this amp for this channel alone. The mean channel has a very nice vintage drive to it, reminiscent of old Marshalls or overdriven bassman amps. It's got a nice grind but lacks in punch for the more modern heavy driven sounds. The Scream channel is very versatile, and can do anything from SLO100-type distortion to the more heavy mesa-sounds. mid eq knob has a huge sweep, and overall the EQ settings can make a huge difference in the sound with this amp. I've got the chrome front update, which is for looks only, but if I'd ever find another I'd buy that in a second.
