Description
The J Rockett Audio Designs Archer Boost/Overdrive Pedal seamlessly merges the world of boost and overdrive effects, offering musicians an avenue to explore an impressive array of tones. This pedal is a hand-built recreation of the iconic 'silver double-wide' and boasts the coveted K-style harmonic saturation.
It behaves as a two-in-one gear, functioning as a clean boost at the minimum gain and introducing an attenuated clean signal as the gain increases. The Archer's versatility lies in this magical blend where you can discover your unique sound. The 18-volt internal charge pump, which amplifies the operating voltage, ensures high-headroom and endless amp-pushing boost, offering a ton of clean output and clarity.
This pedal is designed to deliver a 'transparent' overdrive, preserving the natural tone and character of your guitar. Whether you play singles, combos, humbuckers, or stacks, the Archer's organic, responsive, and versatile nature ensures it pairs well with all your guitars and amps.

It does the job, beautifully.
Not a perfect Klon clone, but who cares, I'm not in search of it. It has a ton of volume, more than you need. Can be used as a booster, light overdrive, or can replace your tubescreamer, with less mid bump. I use it with my TS10, for solos, and it's perfect. Tone control is useful, when you boost the treble, it doesn't cut too much of bass frequencies. It's not just for lawyers blues guitarists with a 59 Les Paul, it's excellent for raw punk rock, alternative rock, and all the sounds that needs gain and definition.

I've Chosen this pedal against Soul Food...
... and did not regret it. Soul Food is great pedal!!!! And it costs so little! I've used it a lot. But when I've bought JHS Morning Glory v4 I'd decided that I want that warm feel in my chest that I've got the "boutique" sound :) But that doesn't negate the fact that Archer is a gorgeous pedal. I use it more as a high gain overdrive after Morning Glory. I turn it on on all sorts of lingering solos and when I need to maximize the sound, but not turn it into a shredding meat grinder. And this is precisely where the Archer distinguishes itself over Soul Food.

half sized klon
if you're after a klon-type drive, get the archer. It's built like a tank, decently sized and priced and it delivers all of the complex lo-gain drive you'd want.

Best drive Ive ever used.
Awesome pedal with a huge volume boost if needed. Design is a little flawed as it's easy to knock the knobs with your feet but I guess its the sound that matters and in that case it is flawless.
