A fantastic pedal!
I've used this for a lot of my work, and I don't regret it at all. It has great amounts of distortion, but it doesn't block out any tone. It's an amazing pedal for its price!

Yo Matt, what are all the damn knobs for, like the concentric pots? I know you assume everyone's played the ubiquitous metal zone, but in all honesty I have not. My desire for brutality at home stops at Judas Priest, so I never got tempted to pull the trigger on any metal branded pedals when they were all coming out in the 90s. Apart from the heaps of gain and diode clipping, what else do you like about the metal zone. Has yours ever broken? Can you gauge the overall road-worthiness of this particular Boss pedal? And what year is yours?

Inexpensive, but a piece of crap.
When I first bought this, I was so excited to get it, with its very heavy distortion and variety of effects. But it was a huge disappointment to find out that the only reason there's such heavy distortion is to block out its crap tone. Since then, I've learnt to do your research before investing money into such junk.

If your drummer is as young as you look he probably doesn't hit hard. Go out to GC or Sam Ash and get yourself an orange tiny terror or maybe a vox nighttrain. shouldn't set you back too much if there's a used one of either of these lunchbox amps.

You might prefer the dark terror given your metalzone leanings.... oh, and you'll need a cab. check ebay for good prices on used mesa thiele ported 1x12 cabs.
Great guitar!!
Not only does it look absolutely stunning, but it's great for pretty much any genre, rock, metal, folk, etc. The Bigsby tail piece is also a great addition, and the guitar stays in tune very well.

There ya go, buddy. That was a reasonably comprehensive review. You told us the guitar's features, strengths, ya skipped the swingster's weaknesses and I'm sure a modern epi has some... but that was short and sweet with only one glaring error, there's no such thing as excessive use of a Bigsby. Not possible.
Now go back and re-do your 80s Sheraton review so its more like this one. Somewhat informative and useful to other musicians.

It's a beast!
This was the first electric guitar I ever bought, and it has battle scars galore! But it hasn't failed me yet. It doesn't matter what you do to it, drop it, step on it, smash it against your wall, it'll come back in one piece. This guitar is great if you're going for a very "in your face" punk-ish tone. My only complaint with this guitar is that the G string always goes out of tune after a few minutes of playing.

This guitar, although quite expensive for what you get, is a great piece of gear! I've had some problems in the past with it never staying in tune, but after a quite visit to my local Long & McQuade, I haven't had a problem with it since. The tone can be very aggressive, but also very jazzy and soothing. It's a very diverse sounding guitar and I'm proud to say I own it!
