At my recording studio there was already a MIM J-Bass and a Stingray 5, so when I pushed my colleagues to go for a vintage short-scale they were skeptical, to say the least. Even in the short time this 78 Musicmaster has been living in the space, it's already showed up on the session files from a dozen artists. A great investment and if I leave this studio it'll take a monumental display of will to not walk off with the thing.

So much has been written about this bass that I probably can’t add much. What distinguishes it the most are: 1. the ‘mudbucker’ pickup, which gives off bass that shakes the earth; 2. The short scale and an incredibly narrow neck make this so easy to play, you can fly. I also put LaBella flatwound lights on it and it plays like a dream. One other thing - this is one of the few instruments from the 60’s, when they really built them well, that a musician can still afford. Any other kind of guitar from that period costs a fortune. It’s a bargain; especially if you’re looking for a player’s guitar rather than a pristine ‘collector’ guitar.

Kurt Cobain Road Worn Jaguar is one of the coolest and most authentic signature guitars ever made. Compared to the regular MIM Kurt Jaguar, the Road Worn version just feels alive. The finish has that perfectly aged, broken-in look and feel, like it’s been on tour since the ‘90s, without losing any playability. The neck is super smooth, the relic work on the hardware and body gives it a genuine vintage vibe, and the DiMarzio pickups sound amazing. Fender really nailed the blend of grunge attitude and high-end craftsmanship here. This is easily one of the best and most unique signature models Fender produced.

One pickup, one volume, and no tone control so my expectations were modest. WRONG!! This thing sounds outstanding! Definitely not for all music types but for grunge and all types of hard rock, it's outstanding. Of course it's a given that you can play Alice in Chains and be blown away. I mean you can sound exactly like every AIC album. Paired with the JC Wah pedal, you can sound EXACTLY like Dirt and Facelift. But... playing ANY kind of heavy medal is where it really shines. And the Khaler tremolo blows Floyd Rose out of the water. I bend this thing as far as it goes in both directions and it never touches the neck or comes out of tune. Never broke one string. I was going to swap pickup for a SD JB but never felt the need once I started playing. It sounds outstanding as it is and I didn't want to change a thing. No tone knob needed and if it had one, I would have it set to get exactly the tone it has out of the box. This guitar won't blow anyone away at a blues jam, but you won't get ignored either. But for heavy songs, this guitar is way more versatile than it looks
