Danny McCulloch's Gear
Danny McCulloch joined The Animals in 1967 to replace his predesescor Chas Chandler (who went to manage Jimi Hendrix). During his time with The Animals, he had many basses in his inventory. One of it being this Epiphone Rivoli Bass.
Throughout live performances in 1967, especially in Beat Club and Beat Beat Beat, Danny is seen playing an Epiphone Rivoli Bass as his main axe of choice. Some songs he performed with this bass includes See See Rider, Shake Rattle and Roll, Roadrunner and many more.
This bass is used up until late 1967 early 1968, where McCulloch is seen more with his Fender Jazz Bass and his Burns Bass; most likely retiring it in favor of the other basses.
Danny McCulloch would occasionally use a Fender Jazz Bass in recording some Animals songs. In the picture above, Danny is using the Fender Jazz on When I Was Young, and does mime with it in a televised appearance.
Though soon enough, along with other musicians, he would take off the pickup and bridge cover of the bass, allowing more placement along the bass.
The whereabouts of this bass is unknown, and he had seemed to retire it in 1968, when he switched to his Burns Bass, and eventually left the band.
In this picture, Danny McCulloch is seen playing a Vox Folk Twelve String guitar. It seems that this picture (to my knowledge) is the only source of McCulloch using the Vox Folk Twelve String.
