In this demo video on is signature picks, at 0:34 Loomis states:

"Well, number one, I've been using Dunlop picks my entire life, I've always loved the quality of the pick, and I think the first one I ever started using was the purple 2mm with the rounded edge, but I always wanted something with more attack and clarity."

"I'm really known for playing a lot of lead stuff, and pick-attack is just something I love the sound of. I mean, playing a lead and you can hear the sharpness of the pick just grabbing the string. So, that kinda pushed me more towards the Sharpie pick, the 1.5mm just normal Tortex white one. And at first, I actually really didn't like it because it tended to catch on the string a little bit too mutch, so that lead me to really concentrate and focus more on really just using the edge of it, not the whole thing."

"If you take your pick, and start striking the string from a halfway distance it's gonna end up catching, so really it's just the sharpness, and the attack in the very end."
