John Maurer

In 1990, during Social Distortion's tour stop at The Pit in West Palm Beach, FL, I observed bassist John Maurer restringing his bass with Dean Markley Signature Series Nickel Steel Guitar Strings on a pool table. After the show, I retrieved the discarded strings from the trash.

John Maurer posted a picture of his bass on Instagram for national guitar month captioning the post ; “ This gal needs no introduction. Passionately named Blondie, has been my sidekick since 1986. Blondie and I have shared over 3,300 SD shows together, which was about 4,125 (@2 to 3hrs a session) rehearsals, the last 10 years of shows, full set 2x sound checks, hundreds of sideshows and studio sessions, and over 3,000 hrs. being lovie dovie on the couch. Rough estimate bout 18 to 20,000 hrs. with this instrument. Well spent! I am overly grateful for my friends and family for the opportunity.”

John Maurer uses a Custom Fender P-Bass, as confirmed by his Instagram post for National Guitar Month.
