In this picture Matt can be seen holding his 2003 Pearl Free Floating snare drum, finished in Pearl's lacquer finish #148 Emerald Fade. The drum is a 14"x8" Gen 2 floating snare. The wooden shell itself is 6.5" depth with the additional depth given by the metal chassis, making 8" total. The shell is 6 ply all maple and simply badged 'Pearl Maple Shell'. Gen 2 refers to the round lugs and types of strainer. Matt's drum has a SR-010 strainer which uses a S-025 snare wire. This drum first appears in Matt's kit during the 2003 Metallica Summer Sanitarium tour.
