Robert DeLeo's Bass Guitars
This Bassplayer article states that DeLeo uses a Schecter Robert Deleo Model-T Signature Bass.
Also, right before we started recording, I finally found a 1971 fire-glow Rickenbacker 4001 with “toaster” pickups, and that’s what I used on “Black Heart.”
Robert used this bass when he recorded "Big Empty, "Atlanta" and "Hello It's Late". He also used it on the performance for MTV Unplugged in November 1993. He describes this bass as a "Japanese bass from the ’60s that’s like a Gibson version of a Vox Beatle bass" or a "scroll-headstock Hofner."
Shown on the cover of the October 2014 issue of Bass Magazine, as featured in this October 17, 2014 Twitter post.
"The '65 Gibson EB-2 was perfect for the Delta Deep track Take Me Home For Christmas…"
In the full video you can see Robert DeLeo using this bass.
In the live performance of "Plush" and "Sex Type Thing" by Stone Temple Pilots, Robert DeLeo is seen at 0:33 playing a black Schecter J-4 Bass with a white pickguard. This identification is supported by the distinctive headstock design and DeLeo's known association as a Schecter artist. This performance was captured in the video titled "Stone Temple Pilots - Plush/Sex Type Thing (Live at Daytona Beach, March 5th 1993)" provided by Toby McGoody on YouTube.
According to this MusicRadar article, Robert DeLeo’s main bass is a custom made white Precision-style bass built by guitar tech Bruce Nelson, fitted with a PJ pickup configuration, and modeled off a 1966 Fender Precision bass.
In this image, you can clearly see Robert DeLeo holding a Gibson Thunderbird bass.
In the official music video for "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots, Robert DeLeo is seen using an Ampeg AUB-1 Fretless Bass alongside his signature model by Schecter, as evidenced by the video provided by the band on their official YouTube channel.
