This needs an app or something

see, I would rather just be able to do the forum and review gear on the mobile site... I really don't like being limitited to a bunch of famous dude's equipboards... that's not why I sign in every day or so. Just overall more interactivity and less emphasis on big name musicians would be cool. I am not a hero-worshipper and there are a bunch of guys like me lurking around this site reviewing gear out the whazoo. Let us be heard even when we're on the subway!

This.

This is a very thoughtful comment. EB is the best resource on the web to see what the famous guys and gals use - no question here. Sure, the catalogue of artists and gear needs to get bigger - ok MUCH bigger - but I have no doubt it will, Every day it looks like there are hundreds of new submissions in my feed (btw can you add filtering gchiaren pls & thx).

But when it comes to browsing gear, I feel like it's SO close to being something really special. I can't really think of a site where I can go to get all kinds of info on gear that isn't some big store like musicians friend or sweetwater. Sure there are old~ish sites like vintage synth explorer but EB has the potential to be oh so much better.

I'd love to see the gear part of the site step it up (and sure, the forum too - Gearslutz is a mess). And that includes being awesome on mobile.

Can EVERYBODY Stand Out From The Crowd?

two thoughts:

  1. have FUN with your music making career or hobby. its an art, and while excelling at it takes an incredible amount of work, it should still be fun. if ure stressing over a perceived lack of creativity or not sounding as unique as madeon all the time, then making music loses its magic and becomes a chore.

  2. i don't think u can straight up teach creativity but u CAN improve other things related to your music making which can impact creativity. learn a new synth, for instance. if u always use Sylenth try u-he Diva or something (or hell, get hardware like a Moog Sub Phatty). get new studio toys like headphones or monitors can spark something new. like stereo16 said, make a DAW upgrade. if u don't know guitar pick up a super cheap used one and learn some chords. basically make your brain work differently, give it different stimulus.

How is FL Studio 11 good to produce Electronic Music

wouterbruijninckx your English is perfect, where are you from?

Thanks guys, ok I will add Push to my want list. I'm more interested in making music rather than performing for the moment. It sounds like if you learn how to use Push, it's a productivity gainer. Is there a large learning curve? :)

How is FL Studio 11 good to produce Electronic Music

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but wouterbruijninckx if I were to get Ableton Live, what's the best hardware to get in your opinion that improves workflow (or makes it more fun to create music)?

Launchpad? Launch Control? Akai APC40? Push?

I need a good laptop.

Ok that helps. I think you can't go wrong with Asus. I hear nothing but great things about them (compared to other brands like Dell that have reliability issues).

This one seems perfect for what you're looking for: Interl i7, 8GB Memory, 2.0 gigahertz: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-x-series-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-black/8672137.p?id=1219357513823&skuId=8672137

I need a good laptop.

It would help if you were specific with your budget. What's "an expensive beast of a laptop" to you? $1000+?

Why is Sylenth1 so good/popular?

Why has Sylenth1 risen above the ranks of other soft synths? It's easily one of the most popular and most-used synth plugins (on this site, at least, it's wildly popular). I think only Massive comes close.

I'm by no means a synth expert, but I can definitely tell it sounds good. It just sounds really polished right out the box, for lack of better word. But I guess from a more technical sense, why is that?

...or maybe it's not that much better than the competition, but I'm biased because of its popularity?

Would love to hear some opinions.
