Sean Mackin
Violinist for Yellowcard
Sean Mackin's Gear
Sean Mackin uses a Zeta Strados electric violin, as told in this interview with Pure Grain Audio:
"PureGrain: What one piece of gear do you use to obtain your signature sound? Sean: Well, I have two sounds. One is a classical violin, and the other is an electric violin. The classical is an acoustic tone through a microphone. Live I use some reverb and an LR Baggs pickup. It sounds so good. boldThe electric is a Zeta Violin and I use it through an amplifier with some wah; it sounds cool."
At 2:13 in the video for Yellow Card's "Always Summer," Sean Mackin can be seen using a Bridge Aquila 4 String Electric Violin with a custom Japan Flag design.
At 0:20 in Yellow Card's "Way Away" video, Sean Mackin can be seen using a Fender FV-1 electric violin.
In this interview, Sean Mackin of Yellowcard says,
“I have been so lucky to play amazing instruments all throughout my career. But I think I have always searched for a live sound that mimics the violins natural warmth and clarity. The LR Baggs violin pickup gives me the sound I have been looking for. It has a huge dynamic range without sacrificing any tone. It is full bodied and rich when I want it to be, and has the versatility of an electric violin if I want to effect the signal. This pickup is the total package.”
Along with this picture of his Line 6 POD X3 Pro, Sean Mackin tweeted: "so pumped to take this baby out. set up new tones, new effects, new tricks!! @Yellowcard tour starts soon! leggooo!!".
