I got the KRK 5 (3rd Gen) as a present not long ago; I’m very thankful for them — definitely a must have if you’re thinking about getting into music production or a DIY solo artist. It’s changed how I mix and ultimately how I write, mix and produce. I really want to listen back and hear a unique sound of my own. It’s only possible with the right type of gear. I can hear even the slightest frequency or tiny sonic artifact. Listening back to some of my older tracks in studio with the KRKs set up, I’m kind of surprised at how solid some of my older sessions really were, because I couldn’t hear the full spectrum of my mixes. It’s a shame I let so many potential mixes go. I will definitely rework them and I’ll get the sounds I want and need. My mixes sound a lot more balanced sonically, a lot cleaner and closer to developing my signature sound.
This nano sized midi keyboard is perfect for when I wanna go to the park and chill, and maybe produce a beat on my iPad or phone. Sits on my desktop as well, to be a sort of back-up controller that won't take up much space. It's nifty.
I'll definitely continue collecting more midi devices, but this one does everything I need it to do when I hit record in Reason 10. Not too large, it fits perfectly on my minimal desk, alongside other midi devices.. not so minimal.
Has all the knobs and things... it's a good device.
