Get something else

The Marshall MA50H is a very low cost Marshall all-tube head. When you play through this amp you get an understanding of why Marshall have a diminishing reputation when it comes to the budget end of amps.

The look of the head is great, with white piping, the classic logo and gold plate. Additionally, behind the fabric on the front is clear acrylic so you can see the tubes and the orange LEDs that light up the cavity. However, this amp has a very fizzy sound when playing through the overdrive channel even when using the boost function. This can be alleviated with a boost or overdrive pedal; I’ve found that a tube screamer works well, but the amp shouldn’t be unusable without this.

The inclusion of an effects loop is a good choice when the amp itself doesn’t sound very good. The spring reverb is a great addition and sounds good with the excellent clean channel. On the subject of the clean channel, it is one of the best clean channels of an all-valve amp in this price range and makes an excellent pedal platform. One of the most irritating features is the large delay when switching channels using the foot switch making it almost impossible to switch channels on time during a song. The last issue with this head is the reliability issues. Even after a fresh set of pre and power amp tubes, there are frequently issues with the overdrive channel either being very quiet and super fuzzy or just cutting out entirely.

If you can find this at a very cheap price, it would make a nice decoration or use for stage volume when coming from a modeller or pedals, otherwise it’s not worth it.

Plays well, has an interesting finish

I picked one of these up second hand (as only a limited number were made in 2007) It was made for such a limeted time that it didnt even appear in Ibanez' catalogue but I managed to find out some information. It has a mahogany body with a "swirled ebony" top, a Wizard II Prestige neck (which feels great like many prestige series instruments), DiMarzio IBZ pickups and a ZR tremolo (which I am not to keen on). Overall it looks great (with exeption to the one fret inlay which seems out of place to me), feels pretty good and sounds ok. If you can find one at a reasonable price I would buy it. Mine ended up selling more than what I payed for it which is an added bonus!

Bit noisy at times.

It's cheap but it gets the job done. Occasionally you will hear a bit of hissing but it depends on where you use it. It comes with a good carrying case with foam and has everything you need to get started using it. A bit cheap feeling but thats what you should expect for something in this price range. Perfect for small bands playing small venues who want a bit more freedom on stage.

Indestructible

I was given the Peavey XR-684F a while ago for free by a friend. It does it's job perfectly, its loud and has lots of features like the effects and the feedback ferret which works well in my opinion. Plenty of channels and all the features you could want in a powered mixer. I don't think that peavey makes them anymore but since these things are basically indestructible you could probably find one for a decent price on eBay. I wouldn't expect anything less from peavey.

Small but powerful

When this amp arrived, I was so shocked at how small it is. Don't let it's appearance fool you, it is loud and sounds great. Only downsides are that its kind of a one trick pony but it does it well. High gain can sound a bit loose but putting an overdrive or distortion pedal in front of it tightens it up nicely. Also most of the volume you can get is in the first half of volume knob making it hard to get a quiet sound for home practice, between the 0 and 1 mark on the volume makes the same amount of change as between 1 and 5. However there are lots of great features such as the cabsim on the headphone output and the effects loop.

Can't go wrong with Marshall

What more can you want. A solid 4x12 with a great sound, celestion speakers and the Marshall logo on the front. Looks great on stage or in your studio and sounds amazing for the price. Does exactly what you want it to do very well.

Solid practice amp

Decent sound at a very decent price. Sure you wont get record worthy tones from it but it is perfect to have in a house or apartment to get a wide variety of tones and effects, especially when you have an idea in your head and just want to quickly dial it into an amp.

Genuinely surprised

Of course this is a toy and to some extent it plays that way but I bought this guitar and it actually plays and sounds pretty good, not to mention that it looks really cool. The original pack also comes with a spongebob amp which is ok but going through a big amplifier, this guitars single humbucker pickup offers a really thick tone. This is actually a great guitar!

Nice cheap guitar

Plays like an expensive guitar. It has a really nice and fast neck and a great feeling rosewood fretboard. Tone is pretty good with ibanez's own pickups which offer a good range of tones. I have the walnut flat variant of it and it looks incredible, especially with the shark tooth fret inlays.

Does its job

Does not output much noise from what I can hear. The lLED's are very bright which make for easy use when playing outdoors. Foot switches are tactile and because it is a pretty heavy pedal it doesn't move around. Great price and quality product

it shouldn't be noisy, its a passive circuit. only the LEDs draw power.... the noise would be ground loop hum when using 2 amps that don't get along.

Average octave pedal

I use this on conjunction with the micro POG. It works ok however compared to the POG it doesn't have great tracking and can be hard to dial in the tone that you want. It is also sometimes unreliable and just wont turn on for a few minutes or will make some unusual sounds. My only other criticism is that the LED on the front is not bright enough to see in outdoor venues so its hard to tell wether it is on or off. Other than that it usually does its job as it should

Wow

This is easily the best pedal I own. I use it because my band is only drums and bass guitar so I use it in conjunction with a boss oc-3 to get a thicker sound. It is absolutely amazing, the tracking is perfect and the tone remains exactly the same which is something the boss pedal can't do.

Tone isn't great but it was cheap

I was lucky enough to spot this amp on eBay for £1 because of a mistake from the seller. I did have to travel a fair way to get it but it was such a great deal that it made it worth the trip. The amp does not sound great however it is a cheap and convenient practice amp for at home. Its not too loud and has a headphone jack. It also has two inputs which is great for doing lessons or just jamming. Definitely worth having if you value a cheap reliable amp.

Best bass I own

I got this bass after playing a friends peavey millennium passive 4 string which I enjoyed the feel of so much I wanted my own. I decided to pay a bit more and go with the active model because I didn't have an active bass at the time and I'm so glad I did. The tone on this bass is incredible and very versatile and it feels great to play. Not to mention that the orange burst quilted top looks incredible. It runs 2 9v batteries and seems to last for ages despite daily play and the controls are very responsive and feel great. They lock into place at midpoint as well which makes it easier to dial in the eq that you want. Overall this is an incredible bass guitar.

Versatile

I have the 1987 model of this and it is amazing and still sounds exellent! For me, i think it is just as the got the sound of this bass right and before they were made more cheaply and it shows because of how brilliant this bass still is.

Amazing

I have had this bass for a while now and the range of tones is amazing, the double humbuckers in jazz positions makes such a bright sound while still remaining very thick. I have had many compliments about this bass.
