My better RAT. Oberdrive and Fuzz in one.
The smaller and more versatile RAT. Love it. I use it on nine o'clock as an overdrive to push my driven amp and on 2 o'clock as an Fuzz "Lite". Not that brutal as an usual Fuzz, with more bass, nice and warm. Enough Fuzz for me. Enough Fuzz for a Black Key Riff. Enough Fuzz for a David Gilmour Solo. My better RAT.

Best Buy!
My most favourite TS-Style Overdrive. Absolute recommendation. Better than the original. The bass and treble knobs makes it sooo versatile. My MXR M77 Custom Badass Modified O.D. has more drive. If you don't need more drive than a TS usally has, get one and get lucky!

the M77 is more of a Boss SD-1. Apples and apples comparis as the SD-1 is very similar to a TS, but it pushes a smidge more apparent gain due to a different mid emphasis and it also has asymetrical clipping with 3 diodes in the feedback loop instead of the Ibanez matched pair.

All in one weapon.
Good quality effects. Sometimes i use it as a RAT clone – sometimes as Lexicon reverb. It's in my peadlboard and it's everything i need, in the moment need it.

High Quality. Beautiful. Fun to play. And filled with one of Leo Fenders last innovations: the MFD (Magnetig Field Design) Pickup. A bassy high output PU with shining highs you never heard on a usual Fender PU.
Swamp Ash Body. Tobacco Burst. Maple Neck. 6 (!) Brass Saddles. USA made MFD PUs. Made in Indonesia.

Very versatile Overdrive.
MXR quality. Monstersound. And with a bass and a treble-knob a very usable partner. My problem with most every overdirve and distortion pedal: one push and you loose all your bass frequencies (Tubescramer, RAT) or you get untaming highs (DS-1). After years of serching, i mostly use overdrive pedals with "four knobs" like MXR Custom Badass Modified OD, MXR Super Badass, Digitech Bad Monkey or the Caline Pure Sky transparent drive*. Now nothing gets lost and i get nothing i don't need. The MXR Custom Badass Modified OD is a warm, natural sounding, mid boosting overdrive – transparent, with a lot of sweet harmonics and more gain than a tubescreamer. Too expensive? Searching for an alternative: Take the Digitech.

Even cool in black!
You can buy everything from this Classic series. Strats too! This one: A perfect Telly. Beauty with an amber headstock. Thick neck you need to get used to. No reason to pay more for a Telecaster.

I think I have a classic 60s tele neck on my favorite fender. I wouldn't call it fat like my esquire of gibbies, but its big enough not to be fatiguing. Fender Mexico is a class act like Fender Japan.

I just wish they would do the wang bar right on all the affordable red specials. The Brian May designed vibrato is a really neat set up and I don't think a Wilkinson strat-style vibrato will be the same. That said, I do not use the wang bar hardly ever on any guitar so maybe I should stop whining. How deep is the neck? The real deal apparently has a really deep V unlike any other guitar.

Fender Telecaster '62 Custom. Made in Japan. Best Telecaster i ever played.
I love Telecasters. I love vintage ones. I love new ones with vintage specs. I love them from Mexico and from the USA. The good ones are hard to find, but you find them. Everywhere, and in most every series. This one i call the "Gentleman Tele" is made in Japan and the best i ever played. The original Japanese neck PU shines like blank ice and reawaked my fun for neck PUs. Haven't used them for years and now i bought three more of them to equip all my Tellys with it. I don't uns the stock bridge PU, because i equip al my Telecasters with G&L MFD single coils. But the original PU sounded great. Vintage style, medium output. No reason to change them (except you have a little fetish like me) or buy the version with USA PUs.
This is the last Guitar i need. For that reason my girlfriend loves it too.

My weapon of choice. Best of both worlds.
The Fender Bandmaster VM is my Fender of choice. Why? I searched my life for what we are all searching for: The clean Fender sound and a rocking driven rhythm and lead sound in ONE amp. This amp is one of the rare Fender models with a cool sounding lead channel. I don't like the usual fuzzy and brittle Fender sounds when they are cranked up. They work well with blues and soloing in these fields. But they do not rock. This one sounds more like a Marshall. It sounds like a Hot Rod DeLuxe on one side and The Who & Pixies on the other. Why do they not build them anymore? Because the Fender puritans and only-vintage-is-cool-guys hate Bandmasters VMs because of their digital effect section. The reverb, delay and Chorus are really good an fun but ... they are digital. Thats the reason why nobody bought it. So if you are religious with amps and guitars, you will may have a problem. If you prefer 300$ "boutique" pedals instead of a simple Boss Pedal or a tube screamer you may will not get warm with the Bandmaster. This amp want to be used, not to be polished and displayed. This is the best of both worlds amp i ever played. I have two of them and i'll keep them till Leo grabs me to lift me upwards. Get yourself one!

I think people's hatred of digital effects In tube amps is the lack of road-worthiness. Putting a DSP chip that wants to be cold in a tube amp chassis that gets hot is a bad idea. Maybe its fine for hour-long bar sets every month, but take a summer van tour and you'll wish you had invested 600 smackers in a beat up vintage bandmaster and got your echo from a pedal.
