As far as Fenders are concerned, nothing beats the Jazzmaster's versatility and warm, bell-like tone.
Unmatched playability and versatility. One caveat: tone is bright and modern; coaxing a warm vintage tone out of it can be difficult.
Mine is a 1973 Concert Lead (red knob). Warm and dark, great low end, takes pedals extremely well. Very dependable despite age.
