Green Day – Warning

Green Day's guitarist and singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, often used a red Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar during shows.

Red Gibson SG Standard was mostly used on TV appearances for "Warning" era, as well as live shows. He played "Waiting" with this guitar on Jay Leno show.

Second Gibson SG Standard he was seen using, was on the appearance on Hotel Babylon, which was in 1996, to be precise, on 27th of April, 1996. This guitar is rumoured, as well as the whole equipment in this show, to be borrowed from the Living End members. But actually this guitar was owned by Billie. GUILD produced the D-35 between 1968 and 1987. It was a solid spruce topped dreadnought with mahogany back and sides. Serial: 167970. Case marked with "Billie's House" this guitar carries with it a very personal aire. Dings surround the body along with consistent checking. A large hole has been put in the lower bout. The headstock has been repaired professionally. This guitar has seen some things. A magic breathes out of the case when it's opened. A wonderful collectable from Billie's personal collection. Used heavily during the Warning tour, both privately and in the bus.

Billie Joe Armstrong uses the Boss TR-2 Tremolo for a specific part in the song "Warning." Although it is not typically employed during live performances of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," it features on the recorded version. This amp can be seen on Heart Like A Hand Grenade at 18:01. This amp is also used on Nimrod and Warning.

Back in the second half of the 1990s, he had a Fender Bassman head in his collection. The amp was used for the recording of “Nimrod,” Green Day’s fourth album. He also had it for the next album, “Warning,” released in 2000. Although this amp head had a few versions over the years, one thing’s always the same – a very powerful and bottom-end-heavy tone. They were introduced in the early 1950s and were intended as bass amps. However, their specific tone made them really popular among guitarists. It’s not certain, however, which exact model was in Billie’s possession.

Billie used this amp on practice sessions for Warning and on 21st Century Breakdown.

During the Nimrod/Warning era, Mike Dirnt used 1990s Mesa Boogie Road Ready Diesel Cabinets, specifically featuring two 6x10 cabinets and two 1x18 cabinets. This is supported by footage from the "Green Day Live @ Goat Island" video by Plankfan on YouTube, which visually confirms his use of these cabinets.

Tré Cool used the DW Collector Series Custom Drum Set during the recording and performances of Green Day's albums "Dookie," "Insomniac," "Nimrod," and "Warning." This is evidenced by a user-uploaded photo on Tripod.
