Rich Walter: What equipment did you use to record with on the “The New Order”? The tone (especially leads) is SICK!

Alex Skolnick: Rich, that was an old Marshall, I think JCM 800, with a tube screamer. Also, I’d just gotten an ADA MP1 pre-amp and may have used that, but I don’t remember.

Eric Peterson confirmed the use of Marshall JCM800 2203 amplifiers, stating, "We were using regular JMP 800 Marshalls and then we got JCM 800s with 25-watt speakers with a parametric EQ, which was a three-band EQ with a Tube Screamer. During 1987 to 1993 Greg played a Ibanez SR800LE. This was his main bass during that time period. He pause in the Practice What You Preach tour to play a red Ibanez Road Bass . He most likey used it to record "The New Order", "Souls of Black" and "The Ritual". In this video you can see Greg playing the Ibanez bass during the performance.
